The idea of going to Barcelona was on my mind for a long time. Most of my friends have already visited the city and encouraged me through their stories about a specific charm of the place. My friends from university moved there to study further, and meeting them was another strong point to visit the city.
Because of the fact that Barcelona contains most of the attractions that I like, mainly sightseeing, possibility of going to the beach, shopping and good food, I have decided to go there for 5 days. Also, this time, September seemed like the best time (more precisely the beginning of the month), mainly due to the more bearable temperatures, even though they still reached over 30 degrees Celsius.
This city is simply full of life. Most of the citizens you can meet during the evenings, spend their time in bars and restaurants. Spanish people are real fans of football, it’s visible on every corner of the street.
Numerous tourists cover every square meter of the sidewalks. Sometimes I had an impression that we are walking in a group…
I went to Barcelona with my sister, who is a great companion. We stayed in the hotel close to the beach, as our plan was based on the rule: sightseeing until noon, beach in the afternoon.
In the evenings we could easily get to the bars for a drink, as our hotel was based in Barri Gotic part of the city, which is full of this kind of places. Walking in this quarter is a real pleasure due to the gothic architecture which gives it an unusual character. Numerous churches were inviting not only because of the look but definitely due the pleasant coolness inside of them.
There was a beautiful Park Ciutadella near to the hotel, with a magnificent fountain and a little lake inside. The Zoological Museum is placed there too.
While exiting the park we went across Arc de Triomf, which proudly rises at the end of the long promenade.
Our sightseeing plan considered Gaudies’ buildings as well, like basilica Sagrada Familia
or Casa Mila
During this short visit we also found the time to take a walk in the port, next to which there is a Christopher’s Columbus Column and also visited Aquarium in this part.

Due to the lower taxes in Spain, as well as the fact that brands of the Inditex Group like Zara, Massimo Dutti, Uterque, and also others like Mango, come from this country, prices in shops are lower than in the other European countries. You need extra luggage when going to Barcelona…
After this trip I go back to Barcelona with pleasure, even if it’s only a weekend break from the everyday life.
