When My Impossibility Becomes a Portal to His Power
“My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9–10 TPT
I’m learning that God is not intimidated by the places where I feel powerless.
In fact, those may be the very places where He wants me to encounter His power most deeply.
We spend so much of our lives trying to become stronger. We try to fix what isn’t working, manage what feels uncertain, make sense of what we cannot understand and find a way through what seems impossible.
And then we arrive at something we simply cannot fix.
A situation we cannot change.
A door we cannot open.
A person we cannot rescue.
An outcome we cannot control.
A weakness we cannot overcome in our own strength.
And perhaps that is exactly where Jesus has been waiting for us.
Paul discovered something extraordinary in his weakness:
“For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:10 TPT
A portal.
A doorway.
An opening through which something from another realm can enter this one.
What if I stopped seeing my weakness only as something that needs to disappear—and began seeing it as a place where the power of Christ can meet me?
My impossibility is not His impossibility
There are moments when what is in front of me looks completely impossible from a human perspective.
And perhaps it is.
But I am not limited to a human perspective.
Jesus never asked me to manufacture enough strength to overcome every circumstance. He invites me to bring the circumstance into His presence.
This changes everything.
The question shifts from:
“How am I going to fix this?”
to:
“Jesus, who do You want to be for me here?”
My Provider?
My Healer?
My Wisdom?
My Defender?
My Peace?
My Strength?
My Way where I cannot see a way?
Every impossibility becomes an invitation to discover another dimension of who He is.
I don’t have to be enough
There is such freedom in finally admitting:
I cannot do this without You, Jesus.
That isn’t defeat.
That is surrender.
And surrender is where supernatural living begins.
His promise to Paul wasn’t, “Try harder and eventually you will become strong enough.”
It was:
“My grace is always more than enough for you.”
His grace is enough.
His strength is enough.
His wisdom is enough.
His provision is enough.
He is enough.
And when I stop exhausting myself trying to produce what only He can provide, something shifts inside me.
I move from striving to receiving.
From controlling to trusting.
From fear to expectation.
From my strength to His.
Bring the impossible place to Jesus
Perhaps there is something in your life today that feels too big.
Something you have prayed about for a long time.
Something you cannot see changing.
Something that makes you painfully aware of how little control you actually have.
Don’t run from that place.
Bring it to Jesus.
Sit with Him there.
Name it.
Release it.
And then look at it again—but this time, look through the lens of His promise:
My weakness can become a portal to His power.
You may not immediately see the circumstances changing.
But perhaps you will notice something changing in you.
Peace begins replacing anxiety.
Hope starts rising again.
Grace enters the place where you felt exhausted.
You become aware that you are no longer standing alone before your impossibility.
Christ is here.
And His power is present.
From coping to supernatural living
I think sometimes we settle for coping when Jesus is inviting us into communion.
We grit our teeth.
We make another plan.
We tell ourselves to be strong.
But kingdom strength doesn’t begin with trying harder.
It begins with remaining closer.
Jesus said:
“For when you are joined with me and I am joined with you, we will bear abundant fruit. But when you are separated from me you are powerless.”
John 15:5 TPT
There it is again.
My power isn’t found in becoming more self-sufficient.
My power is found in union with Him.
When I remain in Him, I don’t have to walk into difficult circumstances wondering whether I have enough.
I carry the One who is enough.
That means I can walk differently into the impossible.
Not because I know exactly what God will do.
Not because I can control the outcome.
But because I know Who is with me.
Today, I choose to receive
So today I am bringing Jesus the places where I feel weakest.
The things I cannot fix.
The prayers I cannot answer.
The people I cannot change.
The outcomes I cannot control.
The mountains I cannot move in my own strength.
And instead of seeing them only as evidence of my limitation, I am choosing to see them as places of invitation.
Jesus, meet me here.
Be everything I cannot be.
Do what I cannot do.
Let Your grace fill the gaps.
Let Your strength rise where mine ends.
Let this very place—the one I would rather not have, the one that makes me aware of my weakness—become a doorway into a deeper experience of You.
Because perhaps the impossibility in front of me isn’t the end of the story.
Perhaps it is the portal.
The place where striving ends.
The place where surrender begins.
The place where heaven meets my weakness.
And the place where I discover again:
His grace really is enough. His power really is present. And my weakness really can become a portal to the mighty power of Christ living in me.
This Week’s Invitation
What feels impossible to you right now?
Instead of asking first, “How do I solve this?”, sit with Jesus and ask:
“Jesus, who do You want to be for me in this place?”
Then release the situation to Him and remain there long enough to receive what He wants to give you.
Your impossibility is not an obstacle to His power. It may be the very place where you encounter it.
