I Don’t Have to Carry It All
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
There is an orphan place in us that whispers:
I have to make a plan.
I have to hold everything together.
If I don’t make it happen, who will?
It is the part of us that has learned to survive through self-reliance.
And sometimes it looks remarkably like strength.
We work harder. Think further ahead. Control the details. Carry the responsibility. Prepare for every possible outcome.
But underneath it all can sit a quiet fear:
What if there isn’t enough? What if no one comes through for me? What if I am on my own?
And perhaps this is where Jesus is inviting us into another way.
Not to try harder to trust Him.
But simply to yield.
Because the truth is, I am not an orphan trying to survive in a world of limited supply.
I am a daughter of the King.
I have a Father.
A Father who sees what I need before I even ask.
A Father who knows what tomorrow holds.
A Father whose resources are not limited by what I can see today.
And I don’t have to feel this truth before I surrender to it.
That feels important.
Faith isn’t always a feeling of complete confidence. Sometimes faith is simply opening my hands and saying:
Father, I choose to believe You here.
Even while my emotions are still catching up.
I can bring Him the financial pressure.
The unanswered question.
The resource I cannot see.
The opportunity that hasn’t appeared yet.
The thing I have been desperately trying to make happen.
And I can stop demanding that I solve it before I surrender it.
This is the invitation of Receive.
Before I strive.
Before I strategise.
Before I try to provide for myself from a place of fear—
I receive.
I receive the truth that God is already my Provider.
Perhaps provision will not always arrive in the way I imagined. Perhaps it won’t always look like abundance according to the world’s definition.
But my Father is faithful.
Jesus said:
“So above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.” — Matthew 6:33 TPT
Today I am choosing to release another layer of the orphan heart that says:
It all depends on me.
It doesn’t.
I belong to God.
My past experiences of lack do not define His character.
Disappointment does not make Him unfaithful.
What I cannot currently see does not mean He isn’t already working.
So today, I don’t need to manufacture faith.
I don’t need the perfect prayer.
I don’t even have to feel particularly brave.
I can simply open my hands.
Yield.
Holy Spirit, You are Lord here.
Lord over my finances.
Lord over my work.
Lord over my family.
Lord over my future.
Lord over every place where I am afraid there won’t be enough.
Father, forgive me for the places where fear has convinced me that everything depends on me. Teach my heart what it means to live as Your daughter. I surrender my need to control the outcome, and I receive again the truth of who You are.
You are my Father. You are my Provider. You are faithful. And I am not alone.
I don’t have to strive until I feel this.
I can simply surrender.
And allow my heart to learn how to live from the truth that I am already held, already loved and already His.
This is the way she walks.
Not as an orphan trying to secure her own future.
But as a daughter learning, one surrendered step at a time, to trust her Father.
